From SXSW and the Bonnaroo music festival to the blu eCigs Freedom Project nationwide tour, Portugal. The Man is a band on the move. The multi-talented Left Coast rockers released their 2013 album Evil Friends to a flurry of good reviews. The album—a collaboration with sought-after music producer Danger Mouse—sails into new territory with a more lyrical sound but stays true to the band’s self-described genre: “Groove, Soul, Grime, stuff.”
Hang with band members Kyle and Zach as they talk about freedom and how it plays into their music. They define “free” as a mosaic of rock ’n’ roll, punk rock, doing what you want and generally keepin’ it real. They appreciate having the rare freedom to play whatever they want and collaborate with artists and creators who inspire them. Not a bad gig.
